Always one of the highlights of Inpsire Youth Art’s TOLFest, this year’s BBC Introducing gig at Metronome was one of the best yet, with eight superb young acts, including five first time BBC performers at the gig. The newest music venue in Nottingham, Metronome, played host to the event which showcased some of the best new talent from across the county, hosted by Dean Jackson and ably assisted by Nina Smith
Performers on the night included the cheeky CRS 5-piece with their mix of rap and great melodies, the inspirational Jess Fisher, back at Metronome after her Able Orchestra appearance, with a Controller-led digital set complete with stunning visuals, and IYA Singer Songwriter Academy stars Margarita and Sam Barker, who both delivered emotional sets.
The packed and enthralled audience were wowed further when the three returning First Light Label artists – Alfie Sharp, Betsey and Remy - played with their new backing bands, which gave their existing and new material added punch, confidence and maturity. Remy, a finalist in next Sunday’s Future Sound of Nottingham (7 July, Rock City), went one step further by dropping in amongst the audience to close his set with an impromptu and intimate acoustic version of his hit song ‘Afternoon Tea’, and the crowd loved it!
The show closed with the fabulous new ‘discovery’ by Jerub – in only his fourth ever live show he delivered a swooning and beautiful set to send the audience home happy, after a busy but fantastic night of brilliant new music from IYA’s and Nottingham's finest new young talent!
