This year’s theme for Mental Health Awareness Week is community – and at Inspire, we believe that community is at the heart of everything we do. It drives the safe and welcoming spaces we provide, the events that bring people together, and the learning courses that provide new opportunities for those looking to expand their skills.

This May, we’re highlighting the parts of Inspire that can improve the lives of our users. Whether you’re looking for reliable information about a difficult health condition, places to make new friends, or a chance to explore your creativity with others. Our libraries and learning centres are right on your doorstep, bringing our inspired offer to you.

Access reliable information about a range of medical conditions with Reading Well - books recommended by medical professionals and available to borrow for FREE in your local library.

Our Places of Welcome groups are friendly weekly coffee mornings designed to help you meet new people and spark new friendships. Come along to a library near you and be served by our friendly volunteers, often with helpful information or games sessions to break the ice.

Looking for opportunities to help others, while still feeling the benefits yourself? Our volunteer roles may be perfect for you. Browse available roles around the county and help make a difference to people in your communities.

New Connect and Create workshops at Hucknall and Retford libraries encourage adults to unleash their creativity through the artistic process. Artists will encourage collaboration and community, and invite people to just enjoy the process, because who says kids get to have all the fun?

You can also get creative in arts and crafts courses led by our Adult Learning tutors. View upcoming courses including needle felting, painting, beadwork and more.
