Inspire Youth Arts were delighted to work in partnership with Next Door Dance, with support from Captivate, to deliver the first Catapult Dance Festival 2025 on Tuesday 25 March at Mansfield Palace Theatre.
Catapult Dance Festival was a fun evening of dance, showcasing brand new work from 160 children and young people from groups across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.
With an audience of 384 packing out the theatre stalls, the event premiered new commissioned dance pieces created by Next Door Dance and three Mansfield and Ashfield primary schools. The work targeted year 5 and 6 pupils, to support the transition from primary dance education to catapulting them into future dance opportunities with Inspire Youth Arts and Next Door Dance.
Following an intensive choreographic project which took place in February half term, young people aged 11-24 from across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire showcased a brand-new Shadow Movement Project performance piece, created with Next Door Dance.
The festival also showcased exciting new performances from Inspire Youth Arts dance groups and invited guests including, Foxwood Dance, Jump Start, Next Door Dance Youth Company, Primary Steps, Shadow Movement Project, MX Collective, V.Create Contemporary Youth Dance Company and West Y Dance. Find out more about each performance on the Catapult Dance Festival webpage.
The event was also broadcast online on Saturday 5 April, bringing in an online audience of over 500 people.
Inspire Youth Arts would like to thank Next Door Dance and all of our young dancers for creating a fantastic first Catapult Dance Festival!
