We’re ending 2024 and starting 2025 as we mean to go on – with a season brimming with events for the whole family to keep you out of the cold throughout the winter months. We begin the season during the festive period and the annual An Inspired Christmas concert and Christmas markets in libraries are sure to put you in the spirit.
Children and families can enjoy two different family theatre performances this season. Dessert spoons at the ready! Cinderella Ice Cream Seller promises to be a delicious retelling of a favourite fairytale, and The Ugly Duckling presented by Nottingham Playhouse will put their own spin on this classic story. February marks the return of the annual Festival of Science and Curiosity and we’re delighted that we will be holding several of the fun and free events in Inspire Libraries.
Reading is at the heart of what we do, and we’re welcoming several authors to libraries including T.M. Logan, Clare Harvey, Andrew Graves, Rebecca Bradley and Sarah Ward. Or join the Minute Memoir writing workshop to have a go at life writing yourself.
Heritage enthusiasts will love the huge range of heritage talks we have on offer this season. From scandals to hidden histories of Nottinghamshire gardens, there’s lots of history to explore from our wonderful county.
Jazz Steps will liven up your winter nights with live music from the best of jazz artists including the Pete Donaldson Blues Band, a celebration of Chet Baker, and ‘Midnight Blue’ Live.
Popcorn at the ready! The big screen is back in libraries as we present a series of relaxed and dementia friendly film screenings. It’s not officially Christmas until you’ve watched Home Alone, plus later in the season enjoy Dumbo, Love & Friendship, and The Tigger Movie.
Catch fascinating exhibitions on display in your local library gallery. Get up close to the magical world of Fungi at Fungi Up Close and listen to the photographer talk about his work at Worksop Library. Celebrate kindness at Mansfield Central Library at the Paying it Forward: A Veteran’s story exhibition, or discover the work created on our I Am An Artist and I Am A Writer exhibitions.
This is just a small taster of the events we have on offer this December – March. Grab a copy to find out what’s on near you and we look forward to giving you a warm welcome this winter.
