Worksop Library became a Fun Palace 2023!

On Saturday 7th October, the hugely successful Fun Palace returned to Worksop Library, bringing a variety of free and fun activities! 

Fun Palaces is a free, nationwide campaign for culture at the heart of community and community at the heart of culture, which happens every year in October. 

This was the 6th time Worksop Library has hosted the Fun Palace, which is now well established in Bassetlaw's events calendar and continues to attract new and returning visitors.

Just over 1800 people came through the doors this year to try out different arts, science, health and heritage activities delivered by local community groups and organisations.

A massive thank you to everyone who took part and helped to make it another amazing event!

• Making Forkys with From the Heart Charity 
• Stained glass window crafts with St John's Church Heritage Team 
• Gatehouse models with Worksop Priory & Gatehouse Community Trust 
• Making pine cone birds with The Harley Gallery
• Recycling fun and games with Veolia
• Augmented Reality Interactive Flood Simulation with Nottinghamshire County Council Flood Awareness 
• Smoothie bike fun with ABL Health
• Skeleton crafts with Nottinghamshire Health & Wellbeing Team 
• Badge making, spin pictures, code-a-pillars and giant games
• Drawing fun with artists Mandy Keating and Tracey Meek for the Big Draw 2023 Time to Connect - inspired by the awesome Sherwood Up Close Exhibition!
• Artist-led creative fun for the under 5s plus the launch of a new Little Creatives book! 
• Music from Langold Dyscarr School Choir, the Red Hot Band and the Dukeries Ukeries Ukulele Group
• A special visit from Notts Fire and Rescue Service who dropped by with the fire engine for the morning!
