The hugely successful Fun Palace returns to Worksop Library for its 6th year. On Saturday 7 October Worksop Library will be opening its doors, bringing a variety of FREE drop-in activities and experiences for everyone, including microscope experiments, stop-motion animation, roman coil pot making, cardboard houses and paper dolls to colour and dress, and much more!
Drop in at any time between 10am and 3pm to discover a variety of different arts, science, health and heritage activities aimed at anyone of any age. We'll be welcoming local community groups and organisations including;
Fun Palace visitors will be able to get creative as they join us for some drawing fun with local artists Tracey Meek and Mandy Keating for the Big Draw 2023 Time to Connect, this will be an amazing opportunity to engage in art with the family.
The Big Draw is a pioneering visual literacy charity dedicated to raising the profile of drawing as a tool for wellbeing, thought, creativity, social and cultural engagement. The charity is the founder and driving force behind The Big Draw Festival – the world’s biggest celebration of drawing.
There will be artist-led creative fun especially for the under 5s led by Little Creatives! We're also delighted to announce that we'll be launching 'The Little Creatives Book'. The book is packed with ideas for fun activities to do at home and brings together the areas of learning that are important in early years creative play!
Visitors to the Fun Palace will also be able to have a go at badge making, spin pictures, code-a-pillars and other fun activities. Discover how to direct your own stop-motion Lego Movie and celebrate World Smile Day with Inspire Learning and join the BAME Engineers Society for some slime making and marshmallow and pasta structure building challenges, with prizes to be won!
Plus Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service will be dropping by during the day - look out for the fire engine parked outside the library!
Fun Palaces is a free, nationwide campaign for culture at the heart of community and community at the heart of culture happening over the weekend of the 6 October – 8 October 2023. Each Fun Palace celebrates the unique skills and passions of local people – run by, for and with the local community.
