A school choir group had the performance of a lifetime when they were invited to sing with Jake Bugg at his hometown show at Nottingham’s Motorpoint Arena.
Inspire Youth Arts were approached by Nottingham’s iconic music artist, Jake Bugg to find a school choir to perform on stage with him at the Motorpoint Arena on November 26th. The concert was to celebrate 10 years of his number one debut album, where he played the album in full, followed by other favourites from his subsequent records.
Working with Inspire Music’s Daniela Smith, a 16-piece choir from the Queen Elizabeth Academy in Mansfield was invited to perform as a backing choir for one song, 'Broken', which was met with huge applause from the crowd. The choir got to spend some time in the Old Library in Mansfield, in the recording studio, before taking to the stage with a 9000-capacity audience. Daniela has also been involved with Vicky McClure’s Dementia Choir, which was shown on national television earlier this year.
Lu Blackband, projects administrator for Nottinghamshire Music Education Hub, said: “Nottinghamshire Music Hub and Inspire Youth Arts were delighted to be able to support the Queen Elizabeth Academy choir on their arena debut with Jake Bugg at the weekend.
“We love an opportunity to showcase Nottinghamshire talent so we were thrilled the choir was chosen to participate in such a high-profile performance .
“They did Jake, their families and their school community proud – huge congratulations to the choir on an outstanding performance.”
