The hugely successful Fun Palace returned to Worksop Library on 2 October 2021, bringing a variety of free and fun activities for people to take part in.
Worksop Library had a fantastic day of fun when the library became a Fun Palace for the day! This was the fourth Fun Palace hosted at the library, and the occasion felt particularly momentous as this was the first large event the library held since its refurbishment following the 2019 flood.
Fun Palaces is a free, nationwide campaign for culture at the heart of community and community at the heart of culture happening over the weekend of the 1 - 3 October 2021.
Each Fun Palace celebrates the unique skills and passions of local people – run by, for and with the local community. Since 2014 a total of 2100 Fun Palaces have been made across the UK and worldwide by over 40,000 local people (‘Makers’) with 650,000 people taking part.
The day got off to a flying start when the Red Hot Band joined us for half an hour of funky tunes! Then the activities were in full swing until 3pm.
Inspire would like to say thank you to all of the Makers who joined us to help make the day a success: Mr Straw's House National Trust who took us on a historical journey, Ignite! who unleashed our inner scientists, Aurora Wellbeing Centre, From The Heart Charity who created some fantastic Forkys from Toy Story 4, The Harley Gallery for the brilliant pottery activity, Inspire Learning for their nature crafts and animation masterclasses, and artist Emma Reynard who helped us to create a FACES, PLACES portrait tile as part of The Big Draw 2021: Make the Change.
"We came to the Fun Palace today and it was absolutely amazing! My son
loved the stop motion session and he’s spent the past two hours at home doing
it on his iPad. This is the first time I’ve seen him proud and
smiling in a very long time"
Save the date - Fun Palace will return to Worksop Library on 1 October 2022!
