The Inspire Community Makers volunteering programme is officially launched!

Published 30th September 2021

We're celebrating the launch of our brand-new volunteering programme, Community Makers, providing volunteering opportunities for those who want to make a difference and get involved in delivering arts, culture, learning and library services across Nottinghamshire.

During the pandemic, we saw a huge number of people stepping up to help in any way they could. With COVID restrictions eased, many people are eager to get involved with their communities once more, which means now is the perfect time for Inspire Community Makers to arrive.

Community Makers was officially launched at the Annual Inspire Awards on 30 September 2021, where some of the categories celebrate the contribution volunteers make to culture, learning and libraries in Nottinghamshire.

Our new Community Makers website allows you to search for volunteering roles, much like a jobs board. The process is quick, clear, and enjoyable. Available roles are offered on a ‘free time’ basis, depending on whether you have a couple of hours, a day, or can make a more regular commitment.

Since our initial launch in the summer, we now have over 100 volunteers signed up as Community Makers, supporting libraries and activities across Nottinghamshire. Current opportunities include volunteering in Community Partnership Libraries, supporting our Youth Arts programme, and helping out at our Jazz Events.

Peter Gaw, Inspire's CEO, said:

“This has been a project several years in the making. Whilst we already have many people volunteering with us and playing a vital role in what we do, our new Community Makers website will help us streamline the process and make it quicker and simpler to sign up.

Volunteers are a key part of our service; bringing experience, ideas and inspiration, delivering and supporting our vision to help the people of Nottinghamshire to read, learn and enjoy culture. Whatever your interest and no matter how much time you have – whether it’s a few minutes, a couple of hours, or a day, you can get involved and become an Inspire Volunteer.“
