To help support Public Health England and Nottinghamshire County Council, our mobile libraries will be offering free COVID testing kits for anyone who wants one.
The rapid lateral flow tests will be available on our three mobile libraries from Thursday 8 July. In partnership with PHE, we'll be helping to ensure that people in the hardest to reach parts of the county still have access to testing.
Lateral flow tests are for people without coronavirus symptoms: that's around 1 in 3 people with coronavirus who don’t show symptoms. Testing people without symptoms helps to reduce the spread of coronavirus because we can identify more cases and ask more people to self-isolate when necessary.
Everyone in England is being asked to test regularly if they can.
The tests are easy to use - you don't need to be a trained nurse! - and involve taking a swab of the nose and cheek. Instructions are provided with the kits, and they give a result there and then within 30 minutes.
There's information about what to do if you test positive on the NHS website.
If you'd like to pick up a test, make sure you check out our mobile libraries page to see when we'll next be visiting you!
