With two major performance events coming up this weekend at Nottingham Lakeside Arts, the Inspire Youth Arts team and their talented choreographers and dancers from across the county have been busy in final preparations and rehearsals, as they fight it out for a place at the U.Dance 2018 national festival in July.
The first event, taking place on Saturday 17 March at 7.30pm, is Xzibit Young Choreographers. Curated by Gareth Woodward and developed in partnership with Inspire Youth Arts, Dance4 and Nottingham Lakeside Arts, ten young performers take to the stage to perform their own choreography, developed over an intensive three-month programme of workshops, masterclasses and demonstrations from both nationally and internationally recognised dance leaders.
Andy Dawson, Manager at Inspire Youth Arts, commented, “We continue to develop this program and every year we have seen some absolutely incredible pieces of work being created by the young people, this year will be no exception.”
The Inspire Youth Arts team also have seven dance groups they support performing at the sold out UDance 2018 event, Episodes, taking place on Sunday. Only 12 talented groups were selected by a panel of dance-industry experts to represent the county at this event, so being able to cheer on seven of those has been a mark of real success for the dance programmes the team help to deliver.
All the groups performing across the weekend at Xzibit and Episodes will be fighting it out for the chance to represent the county at the U.Dance 2018 national festival in Suffolk in July, with one group from each event being selected by an expert panel on the night.
Both performances across the weekend offer a perfect opportunity for all the family to come and watch the very best local young choreographers and dancers, and see the amazingly talented dance groups we have right on our doorstep here within the county.
Tickets still available for Xzibit Young Choreographers on Saturday 17 March at 7.30pm, book online at www.lakesidearts.org.uk or call the Box Office on 0115 846 7777. Episodes on Sunday 18 March is currently sold out however the Box Office may be able to advise on any availability.
