Captivate is Nottinghamshire’s Cultural Education Partnership and 29 November 2017, saw the launch of Captivate in Mansfield Central Library at the Landmarks of Cultural Education Conference, a lively day of inspirational speakers and workshops to stimulate conversation and partnership.

Almost 100 delegates from cultural organisations, schools and libraries enjoyed the day hich was rounded off with a fantastic keynote from artist and author, Tony Ross and Libby Hamilton, Editor from Andersen Press.

Captivate partners and colleagues from the wider cultural sector, offered delegates workshops in drama across the curriculum, drawing for engagement, using Arts Award as a business model, Coding, Music, Artsmark and Heritage, to explore the links between the arts and education and the array of wonderful cultural provision in our area.

Case studies were shared on the power of partnership and teachers already linking with the partners, shared their moving experiences of the positive impact cultural engagement can make to a young person’s achievement.

Author and illustrator Tony Ross closed the event with a wonderful keynote, sharing stories about his career using visual art and literacy including how tricky it is to draw a horse!
