SMILE! Inspire wins Arts Council Support

Published 26th May 2017

Inspire has received funding through Arts Council England’s Grants for the Arts Libraries Fund to develop an exciting and innovative musical project in Nottinghamshire and Nottingham City libraries for children aged 3 – 5 and their families.

In collaboration with MishMash Productions the project will create a brand new musical performance based on the popular children’s picture book Augustus and His Smile, written and illustrated by Catherine Rayner and published by Little Tiger Press, www.littletiger.co.uk.

Titled Smile the performance will convey the enchanting story of Augustus’s search for his smile through magical theatrical chamber music.  Smile will be a musical adventure to delight young audiences across the county.

MishMash Productions, an organisation that creates new and exciting music combined with engaging theatrical experiences will produce the show in collaboration with Inspire and in association with Nottingham Library Service with support from Nottinghamshire Music Hub, Nottingham Music Service, and Nottingham Lakeside Arts.

Inspire who now deliver culture, learning and libraries on behalf of Nottinghamshire County Council, aim to attract new audiences to libraries and to introduce children at an early age to high quality musical experiences.

We are delighted to
receive funding from Arts Council England to develop this innovative musical
project which will enhance our cultural offer to children.  We are also pleased to be working in
partnership with MishMash Productions who are experienced in developing and
delivering musical activities for children.
