Inspire – who now deliver culture, learning and libraries on behalf of Nottinghamshire County Council - is delighted to welcome back Sinfonia Viva to Mansfield Central Library for a fun family concert for children aged 5 – 11 and their families.
This concert of musical action and adventure will see Sinfonia Viva led by Alasdair Malloy, popular presenter and renowned percussionist, performing pieces from favourite big screen stories. The magnificent orchestra will have audiences cheering their heroes and booing the villains from Star Wars, Despicable Me, Frozen and many more. After the performance, families will have the opportunity meet the musicians and try out some instruments.
The concert has been organised by Inspire’s libraries and Nottinghamshire Music Hub, in partnership with Sinfonia Viva with funding from Arts Council England.
Peter Gaw, Chief Executive Officer of Inspire said “At Inspire we pride ourselves on providing a range of events right at the heart of our communities in Nottinghamshire’s libraries. Our commitment to attracting family audiences continues with this innovative work with some fantastic partner organisations and is sure to delight and capture the imagination of children!
Sinfonia Viva Education Manager Marianne Barraclough continued: "Sinfonia Viva has a national reputation for the education and community outreach work that we do - introducing young people from pre-school upwards to live classical music in a fun, entertaining and interactive way.
"We are thrilled to be returning with Alasdair Malloy to Mansfield Central Library for some more musical fun with Heroes & Villains.
“The musicians are looking forward to meeting the audience after the concert – there will be lots of musical games to play! We can’t wait!”
The Heroes and Villains concert will take place at Mansfield Central Library on Saturday 25th March 2017 at 11.30am and 2.00pm.
