Through our NPO funding we have been able to support SANDance, a leading learning disability dance company based in Bassetlaw.
In February 2019, the group performed at the Inspire Youth Arts annual showcase event, ShowFest, at the Mansfield Palace Theatre. Alongside dance artist Sali Gresham, they devised a piece called NOVA which was inspired by our exploration of space.
Caudwell House offers short break care for children with physical disabilities and associated learning difficulties. A group of four young people from Caudwell teamed up with Nottingham-based dance company Next Door Dance to work with projections and music to perform at the Inspire Youth Arts annual showcase event, ShowFest, at the Mansfield Palace Theatre, in February 2019.
In February 2020, a week-long intensive dance project (culminating in a performance) was held at The Old Library for disabled and non-disabled young people.
The project was led by disabled dance artist, Kimberley Harvey from the nationally renowned Candoco Dance Company. Eleven young people with a range of abilities took part, including two young people from Caudwell House which gives short break care for children with physical disabilities and associated learning difficulties.
