Roma Patel joined the team in autumn 2023, Roma is one of five artists who will be creating new workshops specifically designed for early years children.
Roma Patel is a British artist and digital scenographer based in Nottingham. Her work has been exhibited locally and in Europe, and she has been involved in many notable projects, solo and collaborative. Her current work aims to foster curiosity and play, especially in younger audiences.
She’s an associate artist at the Mixed Reality Lab at the University of Nottingham. In addition, she was the artist-in-resident at the Nottingham Festival of Science and Curiosity (2020) and TAS (Trustworthy Autonomous Systems Hub) in 2022. Her stage design for the site-specific production of The Tempest (Corcadorca) is in the Victoria and Albert Theatre Museum's permanent collection (2008).
After completing her PhD in interactive scenography for early years theatre at the University of Nottingham, Roma co-founded Makers of Imaginary Worlds (2019). She is passionate about creating playful mixed-reality installations for children and families, merging sensing technology with traditional crafts to ignite sensory play in young audiences.
