Welcome to Sutton in Ashfield Library!

Located in the heart of Sutton in Ashfield within Idlewells Shopping Centre, we’re a vibrant hub for information, culture, heritage and learning in the area.

Need inspiration for your next read? Pop in and see one of our friendly team who can show you our latest books. Whether it’s fiction or non-fiction, for the young or old, and everything in between – with over 36,000 titles under our roof there’s something for everyone!

Across the week, you can find our staff getting rowdy with the little ones at our Rattle,Rhyme and Roll sessions, welcoming our three reading groups, and even hosting visits from popular local authors. Our volunteers are also here every Friday morning at our Places of Welcome sessions providing a cuppa, a biscuit and a smile for all, free of charge.

Are you looking for somewhere to host an event of your own? We have meeting rooms for hire from just £6 per hour, perfect for meetings and learning. You can often find our Inspire Learning team here too, delivering courses from Functional Skills to watercolour painting – just ask us for more information! You can also find courses at our High Pavement Learning Centre, Sutton-in-Ashfield, just a short walk away.

If solo research is more your forte, we have a great selection of fascinating local heritage resources including access to parish records and Ancestry, accessible on our second floor. Alternatively, come along with your laptop and settle in for a study day with free WiFi and a coffee machine on site.
