Hobby to Business

Hobby to Business with BIPC Nottinghamshire

Have you discovered something you love to do, and wondered if it has the potential to grow and support you financially? But how can we take a hobby and turn it into a business?

Hobby to Business covers a series of start-up workshops to help you make sense of the entrepreneurial journey ahead.

The BIPC Hobby to Business covers a series of start-up workshops designed to help you make sense of the entrepreneurial journey ahead. You'll be travelling through a series of themed sessions with a cohort of likeminded pre-start and early-stage entrepreneurs that will be with you from start to finish.

Following on from the success of the Hobby to Business programme at Mansfield Central Library, we’re delighted to be offering the programme at the following libraries:

  • Beeston Library
  • Bulwell Library
  • Mansfield Central Library
  • Sutton-in-Ashfield Library

Sessions include:

Business Planning with the Business Model Canvas
We'll help get your ideas on the table and map out your business plans interactively with peers.

Intellectual Property
Intellectual property can protect your brand, business name, and even the actual product or service itself. You'll learn about IP and discuss the importance of this with your peers and other successful hobbyists.

Accessing Resources to Research your Market

BIPC team will show you how your library card can be used to harness research and data to validate your audience, find grants, assess premises and more.

Getting Started with Marketing

Discuss practical marketing options to promote your hobby and business.

Getting Comfortable Selling your Hobby!

Sales and selling can be tackled in multiple ways. It's a key part of making a hobby profitable.

Other benefits:

You'll work closely with business experts from Smorgasbord and our BIPC Advisors for fine-tuned, bespoke support to start and grow your hobby-based business. You’ll also access a range of additional support as part of the wider BIPC programme, including mentoring with business experts and specialist webinars to help grow your business know-how and confidence.
