We're celebrating 700 people signing up to volunteer with us! By signing up to Community Makers, 700 people from across Nottinghamshire have expressed an interest in volunteering across our services at Inspire. So far this year, over 400 volunteers have helped us to inspire people to read, learn and enjoy culture.

Through Community Makers, we offer a wide range of volunteering roles, based on how much time you have to give. This could range from just a few minutes to regular volunteering once a week. Our volunteering is flexible and we make it easy for you to move from one role to another.

Since June 2021, we have offered 53 different volunteering roles across 48 of our sites, as well as remote roles online. Some people apply for more than one role – we’ve processed 949 role applications in total, with one person applying for 12 different roles! We’ve started 11 Places of Welcome, relaunched Duke of Edinburgh volunteering, and volunteers are delivering our new Adult Reading Scheme.

Volunteering with us is as much about what you can give as what you can gain. Volunteering is a great opportunity to use your existing skills and learn more. It can be a fantastic addition to your CV, as well as providing you with new opportunities, the chance to meet new people, and most importantly, it’s fun!

As one of our current volunteers Sylvia says:

“To anyone thinking about volunteering, I would say step outside your comfort zone and just give it a go! Although it may sound daunting, the people involved with Inspire are all lovely, and it’s a great way to get involved with the local community. You never know who you’ll meet, or what kinds of opportunities will arise, so the world is your oyster!”
