Libraries Week 2018 - Celebrate with Inspire Libraries

Published 19th September 2018

Libraries Week takes place between 8 – 13 October to celebrate the nation’s much-loved libraries.

This year, with a focus on wellbeing, libraries across the country will showcase how they bring communities together, combat loneliness, provide a space for reading and creativity and support people with their mental health.

To celebrate Libraries Week, Inspire Libraries are holding a week of wellbeing events alongside our regular events, with activities focusing on wellbeing for adults and children, these include:

  • Mindfulness colouring sessions
  • Special under 5’s sessions
  • Knit and Natter clubs
  • Coffee afternoons
  • Author visits

Inspire Learning will also be putting on a range of courses specifically for Libraries Week, which will include:

  • Looking after Children’s Mental Health
  • Meditation for Stress Relief
  • Autism Awareness
  • An Introduction to Watercolour
  • Hungry Caterpillar with Code-a-Pillars
  • Natural remedies for Families

Visit the Inspire Learning page for a full list of courses taking place during Libraries Week.

In addition, Self Help UK will have stalls at selected libraries with information about local self-help groups and our librarians will be on hand with advice on accessing health and wellbeing related e-resources.

Finally, rounding off Libraries Week, we will have members of Inspire Youth Arts joining the Oxjam Beeston Takeover Day live at Beeston Library, with a range of free performances by some of Nottinghamshire’s brightest young musical talent.

Search your local library page to find out about Libraries Week events taking place near you.
