Showcasing the region’s young and emerging theatre makers

Inspire is excited to announce the launch of a brand new theatre programme at The Old Library in Mansfield. The initiative supports the regions young and emerging theatre makers and artists as well as giving audiences fresh, innovative and affordable productions.

The programme launches on 22 September with a show straight from the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Escape from the Planet of the Day that Time Forgot. Three award-winning performances from Company Gavin Robertson combine fast storytelling, bold imagery and jokes a-plenty as they lift-off from stately home to steaming jungle and back again in a frantic outrageous adventure!

Other productions in the Autumn season at The Old Library include Getting Better Slowly- a first production by Adam Pownall, that tells his inspiring story of recovery from Guillain Barré Syndrome through new writing, sound and movement.

Unanima Theatre Company present Love. Life. No Sat-Nav, a brilliant bold live performance from the Old Library’s inclusive Company in Residence that will make you laugh out loud and reach for the tissues in equal measure. Finally a play specifically for Key Stage 2 children, The First, based on the global events of World War I told from the perspective of two small boys from a small town in the East Midlands.

This exciting theatre programme will continue over the next two years at The Old Library as part of a new regional theatre partnership. In Good Companyis the professional development programme for artists making work in the East Midlands, led by Derby Theatre in partnership with a number of regional theatres and with funding from the Arts Council.

The Old Library is the home of County Youth Arts just one of the services delivered by Inspire, a Community Benefit Society which delivers a range of cultural, art, library and learning services on behalf of Nottinghamshire County Council.
